In the evening, as a little girl and her father take a ride on the subway train, she notices a huge poster of a beautiful pony. Amazed, she calls her father and quickly starts to insist when he replies evasively, drawing other passengers’ attention.

When she is eighteen years old, Carolina shifts out of the apartment of the uncle who raised her. The camera follows her chaotic life over a six-year period, from the welfare office to the psychiatric clinic to a hotel room. Through chance encounters or the enlightenment provided by her reunion with a brother she loved too much, will Carolina find a place for herself in a society not exactly shaped to accommodate her?

Fred Latour is a loving husband, an attentive father and a caring son. To take his mind off his daily business worries, his wife, his mother and his daughter organize a party for his 40th birthday. But, as he goes upstairs to change himself in his room, Fred falls dead through the veranda. Devastated, the three women, who are the only witnesses of the accident, join forces to face their loss and find out what really happened. What seems to be an unexplained suicide or a banal domestic accident could be a murder. And the operating mode reminds everyone of Fred's father's death, 30 years ago.
